1. Type of Event

The kind of event is the most important parameter for this decision.

If it is a festival, say Diwali or a wedding, choose ethnic wear with bright colors as these make you feel more energized and in sync with the festive mood. For a brunch with friends or colleagues, casual is the best option. A client meeting always requires you to at your best in formal attire. So first understand what the event is before picking your outfit for the day. As long as you are comfortable, you can carry whatever you wear. Say you choose black for a gala dinner. For women, black could be a short dress or a long one, but what are you comfortable in? I for example, love to wear short dresses but don’t feel very comfortable as mine is a pear-shaped body with thighs that make me conscious. I choose long dresses with a slit that make me look tall and do not highlight my thighs either. So, I get the best of both worlds.

Heels are nice but what kind of heels are you comfortable in? Can you wear stilettos for 4 hours or would you rather choose wedges of the same color but more comfort?
